Elton John's Expansive Atlanta High-Rise Residence Sells for Over $7 Million

Sir Elton John's multi-decade Atlanta sky mansion, created by combining six apartments, has sold in an all-cash deal exceeding its original asking price.
Sir Elton John’s long-time residential property in Atlanta, Georgia, has officially been sold for $7.225 million. According to reports covered by The Wall Street Journal, the final transaction price exceeded the initial asking figure by more than $2.2 million following a brief bidding period. The high-rise residence, situated on the 36th floor of the Park Place tower in Atlanta’s upscale Buckhead district, served as the musician's primary North American base during his decades of extensive touring.
The expansive property went on the market after the conclusion of John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour. Chase Mizell, a listing agent representing Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby's International Realty, explained that the residence was intentionally listed below its estimated market value in September at $4.995 million to generate competitive interest rather than sitting idly on the market. The all-cash deal closed roughly six weeks after listing, with the buyer represented by real estate agent Betsy Akers. Local media and real estate representatives confirmed that the purchaser is a local resident whose identity remains private.
The history of the sprawling home spans three decades. John initially purchased a two-storey duplex in the Buckhead high-rise in 1992 for $925000, according to property records highlighted by Architectural Digest. Over the subsequent 30 years, as neighboring units became available on the same floor, he acquired five additional apartments. Extensive structural renovations connected the separate spaces into a massive 13,332-square-foot sky mansion. Real estate documentation shows the combined residence features four bedrooms, six full bathrooms, and three partial bathrooms, alongside nine reserved parking spaces, six private storage rooms, and five individual wine storage units.
The interior layout was specifically tailored to house the artist's extensive collection of fine art and photography. At the heart of the home sits a two-storey formal dining room complemented by upper-level gallery walkways. Architectural details include floor-to-ceiling mirrors, light-colored hardwood flooring, and an onyx-lined bathroom within the main bedroom suite. The master dressing area boasts a custom walk-in wardrobe and a private balcony, while additional amenities feature a private gym, a separate massage room, and an in-home spa. Expansive double-height windows provide panoramic views encompassing the Midtown, Downtown, and Buckhead skylines.
John originally selected Atlanta as a regional hub in the early 1990s, drawn by the convenience of the local airport and the welcoming nature of the community. In prior interviews with real estate and financial publications, the musician noted that the city offered a grounded and familiar environment during a significant period of personal recovery. His presence in the 40-story Park Place building also intertwined with his philanthropic efforts in the area, including the establishment of regional operational headquarters for the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
The property sale marks the definitive end of John's touring era connection to the city. His final Atlanta performance occurred at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in September 2022 during his farewell tour. Prior to placing the residence on the market, the home's contents—including vintage furnishings, stage costumes, and prominent artworks—were cleared out, with select pieces later offered at a Christie's auction in New York in early 2024. John currently resides primarily in the United Kingdom alongside his husband, David Furnish, and their two children, concluding the chapter on the largest residential space within the Park Place tower.
